Reverts

  1. A programme tailored to New Muslims who have embarked on their journey to Islam and taken their shahada or reverts who have been Muslim for some time and require interactive learning and guidance. The first days after accepting Islam are very special. This is a start to a journey into the knowledge of Islam where there is a lot to learn and practice. It is not always simple to know where to start learning, how to keep motivated, how to track one’s progress and most importantly ensuring you are being taught Islam in its true light and from authenticated reliable sources.

In reverts class I understood more about how to pray, there is always something new to learn and admire about how easy it is to be Muslim! Sometimes I make being a Muslim look so hard and stress myself but I think Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) wants it to be more easy for us! I really started to love classes more and more and I enjoy so much

For those who have time and ability, all Jamia Al Maarif Islamic courses are available free of charge for reverts enrolled onto the mentoring programme, however we do suggest sensible and realistic goals to enable the knowledge learnt to digest as well as to prevent students from crashing down the line.

A weekly schedule in the programme for mentees includes:

  • Reverts Islamic Studies – Tuesdays 10-11AM & Wednesdays 6-7PM (UK time)

An essential knowledge base for any new Muslim. This course includes short surahs and duas memorization (with explanation) session, Seerah  (Life of the Holy Prophet ﷺ session, Islamic Fiqh (covering necessary obligations of Taharah and Salah) & a Q&A session with Shaykha – Dr S C Nasrullah; providing an exclusive opportunity for new Muslims enrolled within the course to put forward questions or request any topic which they desire further light on. This course provides an excellent foundation for further studies upon completion.

  • Reverts Mentoring (flexible)

An informal weekly meeting with your mentor (over the phone or zoom) to review your progress, ask any questions and just to see how you’re doing.

  • Reverts Tajweed (flexible)

Exclusive reverts tajweed slots have been assigned for sisters enrolled onto the Mentoring Programme (for those who wish to do tajweed), this is not compulsory. However, those who do really enjoy the extra hour in the week with their mentors and progress so much over the year without even realising!

  • 8 Week Review

The men’s course is overlooked by Shaykh MA Karim & the ladies course is overlooked by Dr SC Nasrullah both of whom many have embraced Islam in the hands of. To ensure all mentees are happy and progressing accordingly, all mentees will attend an 8-week review with Shaykh or Shaykha. This is an opportunity to discuss how the meetings have been going, how you are learning and get answers for any Fiqh or Islamic related matters according to the Qur’an and Sunnah.

  • 1-year Review

At the end of the course your progress be reviewed by Shaykh or Shaykha along with your mentor. You will be given the opportunity to express if you would like to extend the Mentoring Programme for a further year, or some months. The majority of reverts upon completion of the Reverts Mentoring Programme will be recommended onto further studies according to their interests, schedule and abilities.
