Alimah Sajda Amin

Sajda has completed a 6 year Alimah course encompassing Qur’an Tafseer, Hadith, Fiqh and Arabic grammar. Sajda teaches Qur’an explanation along with Arabic grammar classes on our Islamic Scholarship programme. Additionally, she has been teaching Qur’an Tajweed to both adults and children for the past 5 years. As a teacher and a long-term student of Shaykha’s, Sajda makes a continuous effort to increase her knowledge as she is an avid attendee of all classes offered by Jamia Al Maarif – to name a few, she attends Qur’an Tafseer, Tajweed and Islamic Essentials.

Ustaadha Nusrit Khatun

Nusrat has completed a 7-year Ilm Al Tajweed course at OSAIS (Manchester). Following this immense qualification, she supervises our Ladies Tajweed programme and teaches Tajweed to ladies and children. Nusrit is also a mentor on our reverts programme and holds a monthly recitation class specifically for reverts along with occasional cover of our Islamic Essentials class in our Shaykha’s absence. Additionally, Nusrit has also obtained her BSC Honours undergraduate degree in Applied Biological Sciences from Manchester Metropolitan University. 

Ustaadha Sobia Amin

Sobia has studied an intense Islamic Studies course at Liuj Minhaj Ul Qur’an (Pakistan) and also holds a bachelor’s degree in the study of religion from SOAS. At Jamia Al Maarif, Sobia teaches Seerah to both adults and young children along with teaching Tajweed to our reverts. Sobia has been a student of Shaykha’s for 7 years and is in the process of completing the Islamic Scholarship programme. Following completion of her studies, she taught Islamic Studies and Seerah classes at an Islamic secondary school where she also completed her Post graduate studies (PGCE) in Religious Education. She is currently teaching religious education at a secondary school.  

Ustaad Shamrez Iqbal

Shamrez has been a student of Shaykh’s for approximately 5 years and gets involved in numerous activities. Under the guidance and permission of Shaykh, he is a senior male member of our teaching team where he teaches an Islamic Essentials Course, Seerah Course and Tajweed. Shamrez also takes the leading role in supporting our male reverts as part of our Revert Mentoring Programme and is also an active member to our male youth mentees as part of our Youth Professional Development programme. Professionally, Shamrez works for a UK based financial institution and his main goal is to seek beneficial Islamic knowledge so he can support others. Most importantly, he is extremely grateful for the opportunity to support the cause of Jamia Al Maarif following Shaykh’s spiritual guidance

Saima Ashraf

Saima has been a student of Shaykha’s for some years now. Following her extensive studying with Shaykha, she now teaches Seerah and Hadith classes at Jamia Al Maarif along with Urdu Language classes for our students. She also makes a continuous effort to enhance her learning and attends our weekly classes here at Jamia Al Maarif. She also works at a GP surgery for the NHS and prior to this she worked with early years children.  

Fatma Bodhee

Fatima is one of our Madrassah and Tajweed teachers having been a student of Shaykha’s for several years. Her role at Jamia Al Maarif also includes various administration and financial duties. She also brings a wealth of experience to our organisation as she previously has served as a Civil Servant at the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) encompassing a tenure of 25 years. In this period, she held a number of roles within the MoJ and naturally carries these skills and experience in her everyday role at Jamia Al Maarif. Additionally, she has also completed a BA in Early Childhood studies and following service to the MoJ she worked in numerous primary schools as a teacher in East London

Ishrat Parween

Ishrat joined Jamia Al Maarif a number of years ago as a student of Shaykha and now supports Jamia Al Maarif in several capacities. She oversees our Islamic Studies programme for all age groups which includes monitoring student progress as well as providing preparatory material for our classes in line with our syllabus. She also teaches Urdu Language class for kids, is a mentor on our Reverts Mentoring programme and prepares fun quizzes for our Islamic Essentials course. She has also completed her undergraduate degree in Biological sciences and has successfully completed numerous medical regulatory auditing courses – professionally she works as a medical regulatory auditor for medical devices. To enhance her own learning and development, she is enrolled on our Alima course which is inclusive of our Tazkiya sessions led by our Shaykha which provides her with the vital education we all need for our daily lives

Adeeba Khan

Adeeba is a qualified Mental Health Therapist for the NHS and holds a number of qualifications. Adeeba has been a student of Shaykh and Shaykha’s for 10 years and for the last 5 years has taught Tajweed to our madrassah students and organised our Youth Personal Development programme. Adeeba completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology and a postgraduate qualification specialising in Cognitive Behavioural therapy. Since joining Jamia Al Maarif, Tazkia classes have helped Adeeba recognise the distinct connection between good mental health promoted through the Remembrance of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى). In her spare time Adeeba enjoys reading, keeping up with her health and fitness and travelling.  

Suneela Iqbal

 Suneela has been a student of Shaykh and Shaykha for 8 years. She has a masters degree in Crime & Sociology from the University of Manchester. At Jamia Al Maarif she is a Madrassah teacher and a revert mentor, helping reverts gain Islamic knowledge and teaching them Tajweed. Suneela also co-ordinates our young children’s programme, called Prime-time – this is a weekly YouTube event. Suneela is one of our nasheed reciters and teachers. Due to her love of reciting nasheeds, she also teaches others on how to recite nasheeds. Suneela also works at a local Private Islamic School as a teacher covering a variety of subjects, to name a few: Islamic studies, Islamic History and Humanities at Iqra Academy. Suneela enjoys reciting the Qur’an and meditating in the Remembrance of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى). She also enjoys reading books and travelling and in general would like to continue working towards spending her life in the path of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىand developing the younger generation to become better Muslims. 

Firyal Iqbal

Firyal joined Jamia Al Maarif several years ago and has been a student of Shaykha’s for a number of years. She is a revert mentor on our reverts mentoring programme and is also a Youth Mentor on our Youth Personal Development programme. She also attends classes offered by Jamia Al Maarif which includes our Qur’an Tafsir Class taught by Shaykha and Tazkiya class for spiritual guidance. Firyal completed her undergraduate degree in LAW LLB (Hons) and then attended the University of law and completed the Legal Practice Course and her Masters in Law (LLM). She is now currently working on her Qualifying Work Experience to qualify as a Solicitor and also hopes to complete the Qualifying bar transfer course to eventually work as a Barrister. Firyal has a massive interest in human rights, enjoys learning about historical events and is interested in political issues. She is an avid advocate so is a member of the United Nations Volunteer Global Talent Pool where professionals around the globe take part in international causes of charitable work. She also enjoys clay pigeon shooting and believes she has a good aim! 

Kinzah Iqbal

Kinzah joined Jamia Al Maarif at a young age and has been a student of Shaykha’s for many years – she has been blessed to have attained masses of knowledge from our ShaykhaKinzah is one of our Madrassah and Islamic studies teachers as well as a mentor on our Youth Personal Development programme – Kinzah understands first-hand the mentorship she received from Shaykha at a young age and now brings this experience to our youth as a mentor. Kinzah also holds an undergraduate degree in Psycho-social and has also completed her Masters qualification in Psychology. This has resulted in her working for a clinical research organisation for the NHS and her current project is on behalf of the Novavax, COVID-19 Vaccine trial. Kinzah is also very passionate about Islamic Nasheed’s – she loves listening to them as well as reciting them and also teaches our students on how to recite them. 

Lila Mebchiche

Lila joined our team as an Arabic and grammar teacher for both our beginners’ course and our intermediate level students. Lila is originally from Algeria and is multi-lingual having spent several years in France – she now resides here in the UK. Prior to joining us, she also worked as an Arabic language interpreter. 

Haider Ali

Haider started his spiritual journey with Shaykh 3 years ago and is an excellent example to our youth on how to progress spiritually. Haider is involved in teaching Islamic studies to all age groups and is also one of our Madrassah teachers to young boys. Additionally, Haider has also completed his Biochemistry undergraduate degree and his hobbies include learning languages, reading and visiting historical sites. 

Rachel Hamilton

Rachel embraced Islam in 2010 and is Jamia Al Maarif’s Reverts Mentoring Programme Co-ordinator and supervisor of Media Communications. Rachel has a degree in Public relations and studied Media Production at College. She joined Jamia Al Maarif’s team in 2017 after attending reverts classes with Shaykha and becoming inspired by her spiritual guidance.

 

 

Our Volunteers

Hafsa Amir

Hafsa is a sixth form student studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths at Hills Road sixth form college Cambridge. As part of Jamia Al Maarif she helps to deliver the Hifz programme for girls, youth forum and events such as our term camps. She is currently doing Alimiyyah course (Islamic Scholarship) with renowned scholars. She also regularly attends the weekly classes at Jamia Al Maarif herself! In addition, she is a cadet first aider, part of SJA for the past 6 years and currently a charities officer running charity events at her college. She enjoys taking part in a range of sports and societies, reading books, debating and is working to complete her Gold DofE 

Muhammad Abdullah

Muhammad Abdullah has been a student of our Shaykh since he was young and is in the second year of our Islamic Scholarship programme. Additionally, he teaches as a Madrassah teacher and is also a Youth Mentor as he has experienced first-hand the guidance he received from Shaykh and would like to support the next generation with the same support. He is also at university studying Dentistry and aims to pursue a career as a Dentist. In his free time, he enjoys sports – especially badminton, cricket and table tennis. 

Zehna Bodhee

Zehna is an A-level student studying Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Geography.  Zehna has been receiving an Islamic education from Shaykh and Shaykha since the age of 7. Zehna has participated as a youth volunteer in holiday camps at our community centre hosting arts activities, team building games/sports and playing a lead role hosting in our yearly Madrassa conferences.  Zehna is now helping as a Madrassa teacher for the younger girls at Jamia Al Maarif. In her free time, she has a talent for painting and calligraphy. 

Ammara Fahad

Ammara is one of our young and vibrant volunteers who has been a student at Jamia Al Maarif since she was only 9 years old. She is one of our Madrassah teachers here at Jamia Al Maarif and is also in the process of completing her second year of our Alima Course (Islamic Scholarship) – she has a great passion for Qur’an Tafseer and Arabic which is being nurtured by our scholars at Jamia Al Maarif. Ammara is currently studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths at College and aspires to become a dentist. In her free time, she enjoys playing badminton and baking. 

Hinna Mobeen

Hinna has been a student at Jamia Al Maarif since a young age and under the guidance and teaching of Shaykha, her volunteering work has expanded. She teaches our children’s Madrassah class, Hifz class and holds a Tajweed class for ladies. Hinna is also studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manchester and in her spare time enjoys swimming, occasional skateboarding and long walks in the park. 

Kiran Mahmood

Kiran teaches Islamic Studies to our 7–9-year-olds age group and is also one of our talented artists with a particular talent for Islamic calligraphy and painting – the painting in places her display pictures has been created by Kiran. Kiran is also studying Childhood development and Playwork at University. 

Aneeqa Sultana

Aneeqa has been a student of Shaykh and Shaykha’s since the age of 13 and is now supporting our madrassah programme as a Madrassah teacher and an Islamic studies teacher. Aneeqa also attends the Tazkiya, Qur’an Tafseer and Islamic Essentials course taught by our Shaykha. She’s currently studying Biomedical sciences at the Westminster University and aspires to continue to postgraduate education once she has successfully completed her undergraduate degree. She also enjoys reading in her spare time. 

Samina Parveen

Samina has been a student of Shaykha’s for a number of years and is currently teaching Tajweed with Jamia Al Maarif. Samina holds a LAW LLB honours Degree which she obtained from Huddersfield University Institution. Samina attends various classes herself at our institute and feels the classes with Jamia Al Maarif have given her an insight into how beautiful Islam really is and how Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىprotects us. Samina enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends. 

Emaan Fatima Azhar

Emaan is one of our Madrassah teachers at Jamia Al Maarif for younger students and is also studying on the Jamia Al Maarif Islamic Scholarship programme. Emaan is currently an A Level student studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths and plans to pursue a career in Dentistry. Emaan enjoys baking, cooking, reading new books and photography.

Sehrish Bashir

Sehrish joined Jamia Al Maarif over 7 years ago and has been a student of Shaykha’s since joining. Following extensive Tajweed courses with Jamia Al Maarif, Sehrish assists in our Tajweed department supporting the learning of children and ladies. She also attends weekly classes such as Qur’an Tafseer, Arabic and Fiqh and has immensely benefitted from Tazkiya and Spiritual gatherings with our Shaykha 

Safa Mahmood

Safa has been with Jamia Al Maarif for some time now and is currently one of our Madrassah teachers. Safa is also enrolled on our Alima Course where she feels she is developing key aspects of knowledge within the fundamentals of faith and gaining Islamic knowledge. Safa has great passion for increasing her knowledge as this continuously ignites her passion for teaching children about Islam.   

Alina Florentina

Alina enrolled on to Jamia Al Maarif in March 2020 and joined our Reverts Mentoring Programme a few months later. Alina attends our reverts class, learns Tajweed with her mentor, Qur’an Tafseer class with Shaykha and thoroughly enjoys Tazkiya and Islamic Essentials class. Alina has been proactive in her journey with us as she is carrying out 1-1 mentoring to a small group of new Muslim sisters and hosted our social gatherings for reverts. In these events she has approached subjects about how her spiritual connection with our Shaykha has benefited her immensely. Alina would like to help more people discover the truth about how beautiful Islam is and the beauty of the last book of our Creator, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى).  

Hussain Kiani

Hussain is a part of our Madrassah teaching team and also teaches Hifz students. He’s also a member of our Youth Professional Development programme and he has enrolled on our Islamic Scholarship programme. Hussain aims to continue his learning journey at Jamia Al Maarif and to teach this to others. Hussain is also a year 11 student at Eastbury Community school and his hobbies include him preparing and delivering the Friday sermon at his school.  

Farheen Fahad

Farheen has been with Jamia Al Maarif for several years and currently teaches Madrassah students. She also holds a qualification in MPhil Physics which Farheen attained from University of Engineering & Technology in Lahore, Pakistan. She is also enrolled on our Arabic languages course and avidly attends the Quran Tafseer class along with Tazkiya classes.  
  

Haamid Ali

Haamid is a current teacher at Jamia Al Maarif teaching children Qur’an Tajweed and Qaida. He is currently studying Games Development at Ravensbourne University. Haamid enjoys taking part in various sports including football, track running and Haamid also takes a keen interest in learning new languages.  

Inayah Aafiyah (Clara Jane Carden)

Inayah is a youth forum trainee at Jamia Al Maarif – she assists and over looks events and workshops within the Youth Development Programme. She is currently studying a diploma in Youth Work. Inayah recently volunteered with Human Appeal in 2019 collecting coats for the homeless in the winter Campaign. Inayah enjoys reading books, sharing Islamic reminders, cooking various dishes, doing calligraphy and painting candles.  

Fatimah Hadees

Fatima reverted to Islam in 2017 and soon after joined our Reverts Mentoring programme. Fatima told us ‘When I joined the programme, I had set a goal to learn how to pray and read the Qur’an and Jamia Al Maarif helped me to achieve this and much more’. Fatima has gone on to complete the Seerah course and is currently studying Islamic Essentials, Qur’an Tafseer, Caliph’s course, Tajweed and Tazkiya classes. She’s also making use of our languages courses and is learning to speak Urdu. Fatima has gained a vast amount knowledge here at Jamia Al Maarif and is now volunteering as a mentor on our Reverts Programme so she can pass on the knowledge she has gained. Prior to this, Fatima worked for the Ambulatory service.

Sobya Sindu

Sobya Sindhu is a motion picture producer, and editor based in Lahore, Pakistan. Sobya brings all our students works and ideas together regarding film and animation. Her background includes managing all editing, sound engineering/music, animation, recording, and final show delivery. Sobyas contributions to Jamia Al Maarif during the lockdown has meant our communities have been able to gather and continue learning online through our media footages/ publications. 

Sara Khan

Sara is a student at Jamia Al Maarif and has been working as a video editor for the past year creating videos for the Jamia Al Maarif YouTube Channel featuring students showcasing their talents in the weekly Prime time. She is currently studying towards a Computer Science Degree at the University of Greenwich. In her spare time she does creative design projects, reads and takes part in different sporting activities
